The Our Lady Immaculate school logo is a symbol deeply rooted in our school’s heritage and values. Designed by Year 11 student Emilia Giordmaina, it draws inspiration from the emblem of the Franciscan Missionaries of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, reflecting our connection to their teachings and mission.
The logo’s design mirrors the architectural elements of our school’s windows, serving as a visual reminder of our physical surroundings and the atmosphere they create for learning and growth.
At the top part of the window, prominently displayed, is a cross, symbolizing our unwavering commitment to remembering Jesus as the ultimate source of inspiration and guidance in our lives. This acknowledgment of Jesus as the Son of God is fundamental to our identity as a Catholic institution.
At the centre of the cross is a globe, representing the interconnectedness of our world and our responsibility to care for it. This inclusion underscores our school’s dedication to environmental stewardship and echoes the call of the nuns to be missionaries, spreading compassion and service across the globe.
The central element of the logo is a book, containing the abbreviation of our school’s name. This book symbolizes our institution’s dedication to knowledge and education, echoing our school’s motto, a quote by our foundress Blessed Caterina Troiani – “Enlighten me Lord as today I want to be better than yesterday”.
Finally, the two outstretched hands, one adorned in the brown Franciscan attire representing St. Francis and the other as Jesus, point towards the book. This gesture signifies our alignment with the values of both figures and our aspiration to emulate their teachings of love, compassion, and service. It serves as a visual representation of our collective journey as students and educators at Our Lady Immaculate school, guided by the examples set by Jesus and St. Francis.
