The carnival traditionally serves as the last indulgence before the beginning of lent on Ash Wednesday. In fact the word carnival stems from carnivore ,which translates to ‘meat allowed’.
Carnival brings a party atmosphere in the streets Celebrations take the form of floats ,dancing parades and competitions which we train hard for. We begin our dance practice from September till carnival.
Planning normally starts right after carnival around March, the leader thinks of a theme as floats are used only once. Volunteers come together to build the float, all with a common goal to win.
I’ve always loved carnival but never taught about the hard work and dedication there is behind it, before I started taking part. I’ve been taking part in carnival for years now. Carnival is not just about the four days people see, It’s about a full year of hard work.
We became like family as we spend lots of time together. We all have different roles and we work hard to achieve them.
I’m very excited for this year after placing first last year. We hope the weather will be fine so we’ll enjoy the carnival.
